Probation workers and union leaders will attend a key event at UNISON’s Cardiff offices attended by First Minister of Wales, Mark Drakeford MS.
The First Minister will be joined by Ian Lawrence, general secretary of NAPO (the national association of probation officers), as well as Welsh Government social justice minister Jane Hutt MS and UNISON’s national probation officer Ben Priestley.
The event on Wednesday June 28 will focus on a range of issues including relations between probation workers and government.
UNISON Cymru/Wales probation lead Carmen Bezzina (pictured above) said: “Devolution of justice in Wales would put probation at the heart of the agenda and ensure fairness and improved relations throughout the service.
“It is vital probation staff have the support they need and a strong working relationship with our Labour government rather than the Tories in Westminster.”
