Wales’ largest public sector union, UNISON, will be expressing solidarity with hundreds of thousands of striking workers across the UK at major events in Cardiff and Swansea.
The rallies will take place tomorrow (Wednesday February 1) at midday in Swansea’s Castle Square and at 11:30am outside the UK government office Central Square in Cardiff.
The events come as UNISON is re-balloting ambulance workers in Wales who have said morale is at an all-time low in the Welsh Ambulance Service.
The re-ballot will close on Thursday February 16.
Libby Nolan, vice president of the UNISON National Executive Committee (NEC) and assistant branch secretary of UNISON’s Swansea Bay healthcare branch (pictured above) will address the rally in Swansea and said: “The event is to express solidarity with the hundreds of thousands on strike on Wednesday, and to highlight how important coordination, solidarity and joint action will be in winning better pay and conditions, and the fight for a better future.
“This is the coming together of trade unions as one voice in solidarity to show the Westminster government we are not taking any more of their attacks.
“Enough is enough.”
