Have you ever considered becoming a UNISON rep?
Health worker Shannon Walters (pictured above) recently did just that and said she wants to inspire more young people like her to do the same.
The 26-year-old works as a domestic at Singleton Hospital in Swansea and said: “My reason for joining UNISON was that it is always better to have the help and not need it rather than need it than not have it.
“I wanted to become a rep because I always enjoy helping people and thoroughly enjoy being able to do research and use that to give a hand to people that need it.”
Shannon said she hopes to help more young people join the union and feel confident in joining a union to help with problems as well as potentially become reps themselves.
She added: “Even if you just help one person then that’s enough but always try harder.”
