Youngsters in Rhondda Cynon Taf received medals at their first football festival for two years thanks to sponsorship from UNISON Cymru/Wales.
The union’s Cwm Taf Local Government branch has been sponsoring the pupils of the Ysgol Evan James football team for a number of years.
Recently year two, three and four pupils from the school took part in an RCT schools Primary 5s football festival week and as part of the sponsorship the branch supplied medals for every participant.
This was the first event of its kind for two years, as a result of the Covid 19 Pandemic and all three teams from the school enjoyed success.
UNISON education convenor Dean Price said: “As a branch we have many support staff members employed at the school, and we are proud to have our branch name and UNISON logo displayed on the pupil’s football kit.
“Cwm Taf Local Government branch of UNISON is proud of the contribution it makes to local communities and young people.
“Our sponsorship of the school’s football team is a good on-going example of this.”
