Diversity will be a key topic at the Welsh Labour special conference taking place on Saturday July 2.

UNISON Black Members Self Organised Group (SOG) member Kemba Hadaway-Morgan (pictured above) will be speaking at the conference and said she is proud to be a member of a union that recognises the value and importance of diversity, particularly in the Senedd in Wales.

Kemba said: “I am pleased to be speaking on this key topic at tomorrow’s conference.

“Challenging discrimination and fighting for fairness and equality is at the heart of everything UNISON does.

“Therefore, it is only fitting that we use this platform at conference to highlight these issues as crucial considerations for a move as big and as far-reaching as the Senedd Reform.’

Kemba is a member of UNISON Black Members SOG both regionally and nationally and said she applauds the continued support provided  by UNISON.

She added: “Black members in UNISON have a formal platform to raise, discuss and act upon issues that concern black members and black people across the wider society.

“Indeed, the fact that black people embody all areas of intersectionality, highlights the importance of the work that UNISON Black Members Self Organised Group (SOG) does.

“From challenging the Ethnicity Pay Gap to tackling health inequalities and developing strong strategic partnerships across all sectors, UNISON Black Members SOG also engages and facilitates annual events, training and development events and of course we show solidarity at UNISON organised demonstrations and marches.

“UNISON Black Members SOG is underpinned by the value, that we are always stronger together.”
