Responding to the news Hywel Dda UHB is considering options to change healthcare provision in the area, Donna Hutton UNISON Cymru Wales head of health said,
“If hospitals close, a wealth of local expertise will be lost. People will be forced to travel much further to access hospital treatment and hundreds of good quality jobs will disappear from South West Wales.
“NHS staff had next-to-no-notice the health board was going to make an announcement and they are very worried for their livelihoods and families’ future. UNISON will be making the strongest possible representations to the health board.”
