Cost of Living Crisis Survival

Vital knowledge to help you and your colleagues survive in these challenging times

Alongside our campaigning work, we want to help you to survive the coming months by accessing the advice, guidance and financial support that is available from our union, from the welfare state and from agencies across Wales.

We also want to raise awareness of why the issue of inflation and pay are particularly acute in the public services and explain why now is the time for you to take action.

Organise a Branch Meet-Up

UNISON branches can organise face-to-face meet-ups with groups of workers to watch our morning talks and then run practical workshops in the afternoon.

It’s a great opportunity to invite members and potential members in to speak with the branch and for you to organise around the theme of the cost of living crisis, and to create links with local charities and community organisations.

“Together We Rise” Cost of Living Campaign

UNISON Cymru Wales is fighting to ensure that workers like you across the public services receive the improvements in pay and conditions you need at a time when inflation and the cost of living crisis threaten to push working people deeper into poverty.

You can add your name to the over 80,000 signatures gathered so far, urging the UK Government to prioritise pay rises over tax cuts.

Energy Support Appeal

In response to the unprecedented surge in the cost of energy bills, UNISON’s charity, There for You, is calling on branches to donate to its energy support fund. The union aims to raise £1m by the end of September.

The money will be used to support members over the winter months. The union anticipates there will be high demand for support. Earlier this year, There for You’s annual winter fuel grant was increased by 50% and yet the fund was still over-subscribed in a matter of days.
