Responding to Vaughan Gething AM’s offer of a pay rise to NHS Wales staff, Donna Hutton, UNISON Cymru/Wales head of health said;
“Welsh healthcare workers are working harder than ever before. They have endured eight years of pay caps costing them the equivalent to a fifth of their pay and they deserve a substantial pay rise.
“Welsh Government has listened to our concerns during negotiations. It is particularly apt as we celebrate the 70th anniversary of our NHS that those delivering first class care will be recognised.
“UNISON Cymru/Wales will be guided by our members as they consider this pay award. A ballot of members will follow over the summer.”
