Responding to the publication of the Health and Social Care Advisory Service report into practices at Glan Clwyd’s Tawel Fan, chair of UNISON Cymru Wales’ health committee, Jan Tomlinson said,
“Public service is a badge of honour. Healthcare workers are professional, kind and caring and when the standards of a tiny minority fall below what is acceptable, it is a stain felt by all us. The dignity of patients should be a given.”
UNISON Cymru Wales head of health Donna Hutton said,
“The health board must focus on ensuring this can never happen again and this means allowing the investigation to be completed in a thorough and fair manner. We appreciate the effect the length of the process has had on the families but it is important to get this right. The overwhelming view of Betsi Cadwaladr healthcare workers is their determination to get on with caring.”
